Above are three resources for beginning to learn about octopuses. (Some people prefer to use "octopi" for the plural form of "octopus".) Open a word processor window in one half of your desktop, and shrink this browser window to use the other half of your monitor screen.

When you learn an interesting fact, you have two obligations:

• DO copy and paste the website address, and
• DO NOT copy the text and pretend that someone else's writing is yours. That is called plagiarism, and it is CHEATING! Read to get the idea that the author wants to tell you, and figure how to put the IDEA into your own words.
• One of your most important jobs when using online sources of information for a research project is to THINK! You should be wondering and asking yourself all the time:
• "Does this make sense?"
• "How does this fit with what I already know?"
• "Do other sites have similar facts and opinions?"
